BADMINTON VICTORIA BOARD DIRECTOR
Badminton Victoria seeks nomination from suitably qualified people for election to fill four (4) vacant elected director positions at its AGM on Sunday, 18th of May 2025.
PURPOSE
The role of a BV Director is, together with other Directors of the Board, to be responsible for ensuring that BV complies with the BV Constitution and all other relevant regulatory requirements in Victoria. Directors are required to ensure BV's financial viability and provide leadership to ensure badminton's ongoing prosperity in Victoria.
Director positions are voluntary positions.
Criteria for the board positions are as follows:
- Must be a Registered Individual (a member) with an affiliated club affiliated (member of) with BV,
- Must be over the age of 18 years,
- Reside in Victoria,
- Hold a valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC),
- Have no material contractual relationship with BV,
- Has been free from any business relationship which could, or could reasonably be perceived to, interfere materially with the Director’s ability to act in the best interests of BV,
- Demonstrated experience and understanding an ability to apply the principles of best practice governance, including risk and compliance, and the leadership role of a board and of its directors,
- The necessary capacity to focus on strategic rather than operational issues, and the corresponding ability to distinguish between matters for the board and matters for management,
- The ability to work cooperatively and as part of a team on a board,
- The requirements to meet the obligations of being a board member including preparations for meetings, contributions out of meeting time and the attendance at BV events,
- An ability to think creatively and strategically,
- An understanding of and familiarity with all aspects of business operations, commerce, and the monitoring of financial performance,
- An understanding of and familiarity with the sports industry, and
- Prior experience of 2+ years as a Director on a Board or Committee Member within a sporting organisation, or a similar organisation, would be of benefit.
