Vale Andrew Chong Sing Ong: Remembering a Badminton Champion

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a dedicated and victorious member of the badminton community, Andrew Chong Sing Ong. 

Andrew’s achievements within the sport of badminton include being the Men’s Singles Champion for the Victorian Open Championship in 1966 and 1968, as well as Men’s Doubles Champion in 1966, alongside teammate G.R. Nelson. 

Additionally, Andrew was an esteemed member of the Victorian Team during the 1966 Australian Carnival. 

When competing in the prestigious Silver Bowl International (now known as the Australian Badminton Open), Andrew won the Men’s Singles title from 1966 through to 1969.

These impressive national and international successes are a testament to his dedication and passion for badminton. His commitment and long-lasting impact on the sport will be remembered and celebrated by the team at Badminton Victoria, as well as members of the surrounding community.
