Players Sportlight: Sarah Ung

Sarah is rapidly making her mark in the badminton world with outstanding performances in recent tournaments. 

At the AIA Junior Circuit 4 in Bendigo, she secured 1st place in U19 girls’ singles, along with 2nd place finishes in both girls’ doubles and mixed doubles. Her momentum carried into the AIA Junior Circuit 5 in Traralgon, where Sarah claimed 1st place in U19 mixed doubles and 2nd place in girls’ doubles.

She was also recently selected to participate in the 2024 Falcons Development Program. This program is for athletes who have been identified as some of the best young talent in Australia.  

“I’m really happy to be selected into the Junior Falcons Program because this is basically what I've been working towards in terms of badminton. Within this program I'm just hoping to meet new people and improve alongside my friends.”

The Falcons represent Australian badminton on the world stage, and most recently, the Olympics! Read more about the program here.  

In regards to challenges and obstacles she faces when training and competing, Sarah says that she “often loses motivation to continue playing but finds it again somehow!”. 

Sarah’s talent and dedication are setting her up for a bright future in the sport, and we can’t wait to see what she achieves next.
