Bendigo, Victoria – Badminton Victoria (BV) is set to kick off the 2025 tournament season in Bendigo with the AIA Junior Circuit 1 (U15/U19) on February 8–9 at Bendigo Eaglehawk Badminton Stadium.
The event will bring some of Victoria’s top junior badminton players to the region, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. With players, families, and supporters travelling from across the state, the tournament is expected to generate strong local interest.
BV Chief Executive Officer Clint Proctor said Bendigo was the perfect place to start the season, recognising the city’s strong sporting culture and the local community’s passion for badminton.
“We’re excited to be back in Bendigo to kick off the year. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young players to develop, compete, and be part of a great sporting atmosphere,” said Proctor. “These events not only help grow the sport but also bring energy and activity to regional centres like Bendigo.”
City of Greater Bendigo Manager Economy and Experience James Myatt welcomed the tournament.
“We are delighted to support this exciting Junior Circuit which promises to be a bumper weekend at the Eaglehawk Badminton Stadium. Badminton fans will be thrilled to see young talented players in action,” Mr Myatt said.
“Visiting families can also make the most of Greater Bendigo during their stay with great places to shop, dine and visit.”
BV Event Manager Nick Pettitt acknowledged the efforts of the Bendigo Eaglehawk Badminton Association, who continue to play a vital role in hosting quality tournaments.
“Bendigo always puts on a great event. The local badminton community is so engaged, and it’s a fantastic way to kick off the season,” said Pettitt.
The tournament will feature Victoria’s rising stars competing in both U15 and U19 categories. Local junior talents will also have the chance to showcase their skills on home ground, making this an exciting event for both players and spectators.
BV and the City of Greater Bendigo invite the community to come along, support the athletes, and enjoy a weekend of top-level badminton.
