Ballarat, Victoria – Badminton Victoria (BV) is set to bring an exciting weekend of competition to Ballarat with the Ballarat Open 2025 Protech Elite Series 1 and AIA Junior Circuit 2 (U13/U17) at the Ballarat Badminton Stadium on February 22–23.
The tournament has drawn strong entry numbers, including players from South Australia, Western Australia, and New South Wales, making it a key event in the early badminton season.
BV Chief Executive Officer Clint Proctor emphasized the tournament’s role in providing valuable competition opportunities.
"Ballarat continues to be an important stop on the Victorian badminton calendar," said Proctor. "This weekend brings together both elite players and emerging juniors, giving them the chance to compete at a high level and gain experience on the court."
The Protech Elite Series is Badminton Victoria’s premier senior competition, while the AIA Junior Circuit focuses on developing the next generation of talent.
Ballarat Badminton Association Manager Rhonda Cator expressed enthusiasm about welcoming players and supporters to the city.
“Ballarat Badminton Association is excited to welcome players from all over Victoria as well as interstate for the 2025 City of Ballarat Protech Ballarat Open and AIA U13/U17 Junior Circuit. We have a proud history of hosting events, in particular the Ballarat Open, with many Olympians and Commonwealth Games representatives amongst the title holders over the years.”
Cator also extended her gratitude to event sponsors, particularly the City of Ballarat, for their continued support of regional badminton events.
Badminton Victoria also acknowledged the importance of regional partnerships in fostering the sport’s growth across the state.
“Regional tournaments like the Ballarat Open are essential in providing competitive opportunities for both senior and junior players outside metropolitan areas,” Proctor said. “With the support of local associations and sponsors, we can continue to develop pathways for athletes and strengthen badminton communities across Victoria.”
BV remains committed to expanding opportunities for regional players, ensuring they have access to high-level competition while supporting the long-term development of the sport in country Victoria.
