As part of our commitment to fostering inclusivity and cultural respect, Badminton Victoria (BV) is proud to announce that all BV-sanctioned events will now begin with an Acknowledgment of Country.
This initiative, introduced in partnership with Dardi Munwurro, highlights our respect for the Traditional Owners of the land on which we gather, play, and celebrate badminton. By recognising the enduring connection between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their land, we aim to create a more inclusive and respectful environment for everyone in our sport.
This step reflects our broader vision of making badminton accessible and welcoming to all, building stronger connections between communities across Victoria.
“Acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land at the start of our events is an important step forward. It’s about respect and creating a space where everyone feels included. Working with partners like Dardi Munwurro is helping us take meaningful steps to ensure badminton is truly a sport for all,” said Clint Proctor, CEO of Badminton Victoria.
We encourage everyone (players, coaches, officials, and supporters) to embrace this moment of reflection and unity as we continue to grow and strengthen our badminton community together.
